Filippetti S.p.A. is a technological partner of the SAT project: Smart Agriculture Team

Filippetti S.p.A. is a technological partner of “SAT: Smart Agriculture Team”, is an innovative project financed by the Marches Region in the context of PSR 2014-2020, Sub-measure 16.1 – Support in the creation and functioning of Operating Groups of the PEI (Partenariato Europeo per l’innovazione – European Innovation Partnership).

The project leader is the Agrarian Consortium of the Adriatic which heads a partnership including Filippetti S.p.A., Pegaso Management S.r.l., Polytechnic University of the Marches and green companies. Through the project “Precision agriculture: reducing the environmental impact of production systems” field experiments of the Smart Agri Platform technology will be tried out: an IoT (Internet of Things) platform dedicated to cultivating durum wheat and developed by Filippetti S.p.A. to monitor and prevent pollution by nitrates in agriculture. With standardised production such as seed plots, the cultivation of which represents more than 85% of the SAU of the Marches (and of which durum wheat represents nearly 70%), entrepreneurs should direct their choices towards a specific management strategy. The SAT project aims to optimise nitrogenous inputs in the fertilisation practice of cultivated soils to limit pollution in surface significantly and subterranean water by nitrates originating in agriculture. A hopeful alternative to manage nitrogen in the field is based on recent technological progress in the IT sector, remote sensing and management of digital data, which has led to the development of Smart Agriculture.

Objectives for the Smart Agriculture Team project:

  1. Implementing an intelligent and real-time monitoring system consisting of a smart integrated IT platform with sensoristics in the field able to handle the management of crops in the context of optimising nitrogenous inputs.;
  2. Test and validation of the spatialisation model of regional agro-meteorological data;
  3. Definition of new services and new business models;
  4. Definition of economic and environmental indices which measure the benefits to precision agriculture techniques;
  5. Definition of management and risk insurance models.

The technological solution developed will be tested at the Pasquale Rosati didactic-experimental agriculture company of the Polytechnic University of the Marches and the Guzzini agricultural company.

Within the project aspects relating to the adoption of the Smart Agri Platform will be assessed by the agriculture companies involved in the project. In particular, the environmental and economic sustainability of the technological solution proposed will be evaluated in comparison with traditional management. The results obtained during the project will be elaborated to benefit technical transfer and replicability of the model with other agricultural companies

Financial support received by the European Union for the project comes to € 399,995.09.

The project’s kick off meeting will be held on 11 June at the ADRIATIC AGRARIAN CONSORTIUM COOPERATIVE COMPANY, ZIO AGRARIO ADRIATICO SOCIETA’ COOPERATIVA, CONTRADA CHIARINO RECANATI (MC).
