GENERAL OVERVIEW

The solution uses a complete portfolio of technologies, platforms and professional services for the digitization of projects in general, structural monitoring (both static and dynamic) and the detection – over time – of the health of the project itself, for the management of operations and any maintenance activities.

By combining design data with field-based information through advanced technologies, non-destructive testing, and the use of powerful IoT platforms, the solution enables you to process and manage a large amount of different data and enable advanced monitoring and integrated process management.

OPERATING PRINCIPLES

The solution involves the use of advanced technologies for structural monitoring, for 3D detection (point cloud) and for accurate measurements (use of laser scanners for digital X-rays). In addition to these technologies, special sensors installed on the infrastructure (transducers, inclinometers, temperature sensors, accelerometers, strain gauges, precision levels, load cells, etc..) and specialized software platforms (IoT Smart Platform and Geoweb) are used to collect digital information about the project (and its state of preservation).

The data collected through the installed field sensors will contribute to the digital historical archive of the project (CDE – Common Data Environment), allowing all the decision makers involved to have updated information in real time and the constant alignment of the project as built.

MAIN FUNCTIONALITIES

Project data acquisition: a collection of all data relating to the design of the project in order to create the digital archive of the project itself. Our platform guarantees compatibility with the main 2D/3D design formats and integrated BIM design.

AS-BUILT’s Expected Definition and Surveys: Reconstruct the state of the art on the basis of the collected material and thanks to the use of the powerful features of the platform.

Non-destructive testing and visual analysis: detection of the state of the project through the technologies offered by Filippetti Group (automated topographic stations, laser scanners and instrumentation to carry out NDT and destructive testing such as core drilling and the possibility of carrying out laboratory tests).

Model reconstruction. Definition and positioning of sensors for OMA: through the Filippetti Group platform it is possible to reconstruct the digital model of the project for advanced analysis such as OMA (Operational Modal Analysis). This allows the definition of the number and position of the sensors in order to support the collection of functional data for modelling and monitoring.

Dynamic monitoring and operational modal analysis (OMA): thanks to the technologies used, it is possible to acquire data with the aim of obtaining a description of the dynamic/vibrational behaviour of the project or parts of it and to correctly identify any deviations in the data that will be measured over time.

Monitoring, periodic tracking and field survey: the survey is carried out periodically to monitor the state of health of the infrastructure over time (topographic surveys, GPS, laser scanner, terrestrial photogrammetry, photogrammetry from APR-drones, photographic survey). The information is digitised and recorded on the Filippetti Group platform.

Integrated monitoring: the solution to collect, normalize and represent data from sensors, instruments, sub-systems, sites and locations. Allows data to be communicated to categories of users with specific tasks, simplifying the production of periodic and specific reports. Finally, a geodatabase will be built, which acts as a repository for the data of the various monitoring areas and is also populated with additional information flows from external entities (e.g. service companies). This includes the management of geographic (GIS), alphanumeric and documental data, as well as the interaction with the graphic elaborations produced with CAD tools.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Work Site Monitoring, the Filippetti Group’s solution dedicated to real-time monitoring and localisation of the road and non-road construction sites, is the result of the vast experience gained in the IoT and construction technologies sector.

Through the use of proprietary hardware technologies (IoT devices), located on the vertices of the perimeter to be monitored (or on the ends of linear construction sites) and powerful IoT platforms, also proprietary, it is possible to virtually reconstruct the extension of the site itself and monitor in real-time the position and spatial evolution over time.

OPERATING PRINCIPLES

The Work Site Monitoring solution consists of a Master device, to be combined with one or more Slaves devices, and a specialist module of the IoT Smart Platform. The latter remotely collect data from the field, making management tools and visualization and communication interfaces to other software systems available. The Master device is the one that instantiates communication between the field being detected and the remote platform, collects the measurements and positions detected, both its own and those of the slaves connected to it. It processes the data in real-time and calculates the status of the system and the site, generating and sending the most significant data to the remote platform.

The REST API application interfaces of the Master device can also be invoked, if necessary, by other third party platforms other than the Filippetti Group IoT Smart Platform.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

The Common Data Environment (CDE) – PIM (Project Information Model) solution represents a set of functions needed for cataloguing and managing information in BIM format for technical (construction and architectural, plant engineering and specialist) design activities.

The software facilitates the distribution of the information to different recipients and is the digital file of the project or, rather, represents the CDE intended for the production, management and distribution of project documents in both BIM and documentary format.

The solution, in accordance with the indications provided by UNI 11377, enables the management of the different statuses of technical and design information in order to allow the distribution and sharing of this to work groups operating with different specialised project purposes.

The CDE provides for a definition of the project team organisation, through the role of a BIM Manager who defines and manages the profiles and the related information flow, with the ability to configure the approval processes of individual processes.

The different functionalities are easily configurable for all project profiles (BIM Managers, Project Coordinators, Consultants, Recipients, Designers), and make immediate sharing of information possible according to different operating parameters which allow for this subdivision.

MODULES

The solution is modular and you can choose between:

  • BIM Explorer: this displays projects in BIM format and is common to all project areas. It enables the loading and displaying of federated models and the aggregation of BIM models with different project specialisations into one single federated model, which is complete with technical specifications according to international standards (COBIE/IFC). It allows you to import and export project files.
  • Area BIM Manager: this allows for the complete configuration of the CDE with a definition for all the technical specifications needed to define the projects, their different view depending on the inserted and associated profiles, including the definition of communication and notification flows, the definition of the approval process, and the management of the approval statuses.
  • Designer Area: this is configurable for each project. It enables the complete management of the dedicated area (Work In Progress), and allows for both the creation of new processes, and the timely use of the different types of model visibility which is defined by the BIM Manager depending on the required specialisation. It allows navigation of the BIM model for consultation, updating, transmission, status change, local export of the processed package, creation of an information request and automated communication notification mechanisms.
  • Project Coordinators Area: this can be configured differently for each individual project. It enables the complete management of the dedicated area (Share), and facilitates the approval of the designers’ work. It enables navigation of the BIM model for multiple purposes.
  • Consultants Area: this is dedicated to users who exercise a control/approval function (Client, Works Supervisor, Safety Coordinator, etc.). It enables the complete management of the dedicated area (Publish) that allows the distribution of project information to the individuals defined by the BIM Manager. It enables navigation of the BIM model for multiple purposes.
  • Recipients Area: it is only dedicated to visualisation of BIM documents to individuals who are not part of the project team (Client Contact Persons, External Suppliers, etc.).  It enables navigation of the Transmission List (with protocol), consultation of the relevant documents, and the local export of the documents package.
  • Request Management: area for communications management between the different team members in order to relate and track the requests for information and/or clarification needed to carry out the project.

OPERATING PRINCIPLES

Developed on the basis of the Geoweb Framework, the solution is a latest-generation WEB application and an architecture based on open standards that can be easily integrated and installed in any IT infrastructure.  The platform integrates the Document Management System function and has tools for uploading graphic designs that are compatible with the main CAD and BIM design software.

The flexibility of the framework ensures the adaptation to new technological standards and ease of customisation.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

The Construction Management solution manages and monitors the construction phases of works such as infrastructure and buildings. It allows you to dynamically follow and manage the progress of a construction project, extraordinary interventions, or to re-qualify existing assets.

It is structured according to the Project Management concepts and  methodologies applied to the construction sector, and facilitates the implementation of construction activities according to the project  breakdown into WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) phases and PBS (Product Breakdown Structure) works parts.

Each phase of the project can be linked to a worksheet, which allows you to manage all the preparatory activities for carrying out the work, by providing the necessary notice for them. This will allow you to know all that is needed to maintain the scheduled WBS dates and coordinate all the flows (purchase of materials, purchase of works, design, quality, safety, labour commitment, commitment of means, etc.) in due time.

The product breakdown structure (PBS) can be attached to the individual elements of a BIM or CAD model (imported in standard formats such as IFC, DWG, etc.) in order to have a spatial view of the project phases and identify any process interferences.

It is also possible to update the Planning by updating the main formats of the Work Plans, created with the main Project Management tools.

The summary of a work’s progress can be created directly from the work site through WEB interfaces or mobile tools, which indicate the works that have been carried out and those planned by the WBS.

Finally, the solution leverages cloud platforms and field technologies to create different levels of automation, from the base level to complete digitalisation of construction processes.

  • BIM Data: this enables the use of the BIM model and all the technical information developed according to international standards. It is divided into BIM Explorer and BIM Structured Data (for loading and using construction specifications and subsequent operational and management phases).
  • Programming: useful for creating a building or infrastructure and the subdivision of the workflows (WBS area) in order to manage the product breakdown structure (PBS area), the Operational Sheets or activities of constructive design (ABS area), and the technical and operational monitoring of the Work Plans (Work Schedule area).
  • Requirement Plans: for managing all the Requirement Plans needed to carry out the activities at the worksite.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

The Equipment Management solution represents a set of functionalities necessary for the innovative digital management of vehicles and operating equipment used at construction sites, for the creation of works and artefacts allowing the dynamic management of each piece of equipment needed to carry out construction activities.

Production machinery, earthmoving and materials trucks, lifting equipment (cranes, mobile cranes, elevators and aerial platforms), machineries and various accessories are entered into the register and hierarchically divided by purpose or operational function.

The Equipment Management functions allows you to control all operational activities related to the fleet of vehicles and equipment necessary to manage the site. The solution also allows for workshop management (issue of Work Orders, collection and reporting of the relevant Operational Reports), compilation of the Daily Reports of the operational staff resources, dynamic and real-time fleet location (if the vehicle is equipped with a GPS device) and daily monitoring. This information allows you to populate the dashboard with the actual fuel consumption according to the parameters set and each instance of refueling and its registration in the system.

Finally, the solution leverages cloud platforms and field technologies to create different levels of automation, from the base level to complete digitalisation of equipment management processes on site.

  • Equipment Inventory:  this facilitates the management of operating vehicles’ master data divided into different categories, customisable according to the client’s needs and complete with identification data, technical characteristics, and attached documents, list of spare parts and parts subject to wear and tear, maintenance operating logs (performed and planned maintenance), the list of operational assignments, monitoring divided into geo-location and final balance of hours worked, and fulfilment of legal requirements.
  • Contracts and Fulfilments:  this facilitates the management of contracts for both supply (purchase, loan, leasing and rental) and servicing (tools and safety).  It also facilitates the management of information such as complete warranty and administrative data, the list of associated assets, and the different related (operational and administrative) deadlines, and it allows for the automatic sending of notifications and alerts.  It also enables the management of legislative requirements relating to the technical and operational compliance of equipment, and it allows you to trigger and automatically send notifications and notices based on deadlines and relevant renewal times.
  • Uses and Assignments: this allows you to manage equipment requests and operational planning and scheduling of the machinery yard in order to organise the activities at the worksite.
  • Control Management:  this allows you to manage verification and control activities of the worksite equipment in order to guarantee its correct functioning according to the legal requirements.
  • Workshop Management:  this allows you to manage vehicle and equipment maintenance activities through the formulation of work orders and the collection and accounting of the relevant daily reports.
  • Vehicle Monitoring:  this facilitates the management of vehicles in terms of territorial location (if equipped with a GPS transmitter) and monitoring of the hours worked.

For even more advanced features,  Workforce Management can be integrated with Security (Access Control) and Safety solutions for PPE monitoring, “Man down” monitoring (even in explosive environments thanks to ATEX devices),  digital roll calls for emergency management, and the monitoring of any interference between work teams.

Automation level 3: Time Management System

The solution allows you to align the operational situation and information produced by access control, through a software connector and company management systems for centralised personnel management (corporate) or at complex construction worksites and/or those subject to significant risks. It requires the use of third-party technologies such as Passive RFID Readers, Passive RFID Tags and integration with third-party ERP systems.

Automation level 3: Safety, PPE and Man Down Monitoring

The solution can be further enhanced with the Safety solution developed by Filippetti Group (PPE and Man Down Monitoring).

The innovative localisation infrastructure, SaveMENOW PPE and PPE Tags affixed to personal protective equipment facilitate the monitoring of the actual and correct use of the PPE in real time. In the event of devices not being used or not being used properly, alerts are generated that are displayed on the IoT Smart Platform and notified to the security officers.
It is also possible to identify a “man down” event, an indicator of potential situations of danger such as falls and sickness.

Automation level 3: Safety, Digital Roll Call

By having the appropriate location infrastructure at the collection points and equipping workers with the SaveMENOW PPE and Tags, it is possible to automatically issue a roll call in muster areas, and obtain real-time information on the workers.
